He wanted them to say the same prayers that he said and follow God the same way he did. If they did not worship the way he wanted them to the king would throw them in prison or force them out of their homes.
Finally, the people decided to move. They traveled to a new land called Holland. They stayed there for a while, but still did not feel happy. They wanted to find a better home. They hired a ship, named The Mayflower, to take them across the ocean to a new land.
One hundred people, who called themselves “Pilgrims”, boarded the Mayflower. It was a very hard journey. The boat was very crowded and everyone was cold and uncomfortable. After two months on the rough waters the Pilgrims finally landed in America at a place now called Plymouth Rock..."

As they stumbled into a clearing they saw a house made of gingerbread. The windows were made of sugar, and the chimneys were sugar canes. They both rushed to the house and began eating eagerly from it. Then the voice of an old woman inside said, "Nibble, nibble, little mouse, who's that nibbling at my house?" The old woman invited them in and offered to feed them and give them nice beds to sleep in.
In the morning she locked Hansel in a cage and made Gretel cook for them. She wanted to fatten Hansel up.
Every day the witch went to the cage and asked Hansel to put out a finger so she could feel how fat he was getting. She couldn't see very well, so Hansel tricked her by sticking out a chicken bone each day. After a while the witch grew impatient and decided to eat him anyway..."

When the hare got to the river she was still trying to figure out how to cross it when the tortoise climbed in and swam across to cross the finish line. When the hare finally found a way across to get the end of the race the tortoise shook his hand and said, “Fast and consistent may beat slow and steady, but you will always win when you play to your strengths.”
After three races the tortoise and the hare had become great friends. Together they decided they would run the race one last time. However, this time they decided to work together. The hare carried to tortoise to the river. The tortoise carried the hare on his back as he swam across the river. And the hare crossed the finish line with the tortoise on his back. The tortoise and the hare finally learned that it is wonderful to have strengths, but we do much better when we share those strengths and work together to win the race."

When nothing seemed to impress the king he told him that she could even spin straw into gold. Now that got the king's attention and he wanted to meet the daughter. He asked the miller to send her to the palace. But he told him that if he had lied he would kill the girl.
The daughter was very upset that her dad had got her into such a mess. But the king had ordered for her to come, so she put on her best clothes and went.
When she arrived at the palace he put her in a room of straw with a spinning wheel and told her he'd be back in the morning and the straw better all be gold. The girl began to stamp her feet and howl in frustration. When she stopped to take a breath she heard a scratching at the window and when she opened it in popped a little bitty man. He asked her what was wrong. So she told him the whole story. And he told her that he could spin the gold, if she would give him her necklace. So she gave him the necklace and he set to work..."
